What is Archaeology?

What is Heritage?

This website is dedicated to a specific type of heritage - our built environment. Information on various forms of the built environment is presented on this website such as information on residences, bridges, landscapes, commercial structures, and more. Information specifically dedicated to Kentucky's archaeological resources is hosted on our separate website, Discover Kentucky Archaeology.

Content developed for this website is the result of the mitigation for adverse effects to significant resources associated with undertakings subject to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. All these resources are historic properties Eligible or Listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Unlike some traditional mitigation, this information will now be shared online and in one location for any member of the public to learn more about Kentucky's built environment.
